On Friday, October 24th, 2008,
Mrs Joanna Charitou Barczyk was granted the Japanese
Foreign Minister Award by H.E. the Ambassador of
Japan in Greece,
Mr. Takanori Kitamura, for her
contribution to spread out the Japanese traditional art
Ikebana of Ohara School in Greece, as past President of the
Ohara Chapter of Greece and as present President of the
European Ohara Teachers' Association (E.O.T.A.).
E.O.T.A.- Greece would like to express gratitude and thanks
to the Embassy
of Japan in Greece for their
courtesy and gentle offer of the above photograph.

We were informed recently from the Headquarters of the Ohara School of
Ikebana in Japan, that the President of the Council of Ohara Professors,
Professor Hosen Izutani passed away suddenly in December 11th, 2008.
The sad news brought deep grief to all his students around the world.
The European Ohara Teachers' Association would like to convey condolences to
the family of our dear Professor Hosen Izutani and to
Ohara School of Ikebana in Japan.
